 WHY JUPITER?

Why did I choose to make a shrine dedicated to Mako-Chan? Well, read up on it below:

Mako-Chan is a lot like me. When I was in highschool, I was almost EXACTLY like her-I could never seem to get a boyfriend no matter how hard I tried-and I crushed on every guy that looked like my ex, who dumped me(Why he did, I still don't know, even to this day), got into fights, and was forced to transfer to another school as a result. I love cooking, and am a Tomboy, though I strive to be more feminine. I love plants and flowers(Roses and Lillies in particular), there are a million similarities, I could go on all day. However, the biggest reason why I love Mako-Chan is that she's so easy to relate to.

So there you have it. At any rate, I hope you, too will find a love for this wonderful character after taking a look here. If so, that's great, but even if you don't, at least enjoy this shrine!

About

Makoto Kino first appeared in the first season of Sailor Moon as a normal student

at Usagi’s school. She transferred from a different school because of her reputation.

Rumors said that she kept beating up and hurting men from her old school.

These rumors made their way to Usagi’s school, however that didn’t affect Usagi’s outlook

on Makoto.

Makoto has always been a great cook which greatly impresses Usagi. When Makoto first

appears she had an amazing looking lunch that she made herself and tempted Usagi to ask

for a portion of it. Once Usagi made friends with her, Usagi realized that Makoto never hurt

anyone and she was a wonderful friend.

Not only can Makoto cook but she’s quite athletic. There’s one specific episode of Sailor Moon

where the Inner Senshi attempt to skate, and Makoto is the only one who can skate well.

She also can train and concentrate much more than the other Sailor Scouts.

Sometimes Makoto feels useless and wants to become stronger quickly, therefore

she trains herself to gain power. She practices calming herself to use more powerful attacks.

Her attacks consist of lightning and thunder. She has a special power to call down the thunder

and attack anything she wants. Her powers are quite powerful and painful to anyone she

uses them on.

Makoto is both strong physically and mentally. Her parents died while she was quite young

and she decided to live on her own. She cleans, cooks and takes complete care of herself all

the time. Not much is revealed about her parents during the show, however the show did

reveal

that her parents died in a plane crash.

She only has one serious fear, and those are planes. Since her parents died in a plane crash,

she’s reluctant to get on a plane without being scared.

She enjoys cleaning so much that she cleans other peoples houses. At one point during the

 first

season, she cleaned Motoki’s apartment since his place was a complete mess.

She wanted to impress Motoki with her cleaning skills and win his heart over.

Throughout the show she talks about her senior that broke her heart. Pretty much any guy

she

falls for is similar too her senior that broke her heart. Once again, not much information is

revealed about her past love life except that she had a broken heart.

Some people believe that Makoto is a lesbian, however this rumor is false.

She was attracted to Haruka because of her boyish looks and she idolized her.

Other than that Makoto has never wanted to be with a girl.

Her study habits aren’t quite as bad Usagi or Minako’s, however she does well in school.

Her favorite subjects are History and Home Economics. Her least favorite subject is Physics.

ATTACKS:

" Manga Powers and Attacks

 Flower Hurricane
This attack is exclusive to the manga and is sometimes used in conjunction with Supreme

Thunder. Unlike the anime, the manga more often utilizes the aspect of nature in Makoto's

powers, and this is a good example. A hurricane of flower petals rushes towards a target.

Flower Hurricane is used in Sailorjupiter's first appearance, manga volume 1, act 5,

and it is the first attack she ever uses. She uses a combination of this attack and Supreme

Thunder to kill Nephrite and free Motoki from a Dark Kingdom curse.

 Supreme Thunder
Sailorjupiter's first and most frequently used attack. Bolts of electricity collect on her antenna

and are then hurled at an enemy. Supreme Thunder is first used in Sailorjupiter's debut,

volume 1, act 5, though it is not named until act 7. Sometimes variations of the phrase

"My Guardian, Jupiter, call down a storm!" are used in place of the actual attack name.

She uses a combination of this attack and Flower Hurricane to kill Nephrite and

free Motoki from a Dark Kingdom curse.

 Sailor Planet Attack
For this attack, Sailorjupiter combines with the rest of Serenity's guardians (Mars, Mercury,

and Venus) to form several powerful shockwaves. The attack phrase is prefaced by

yelling each soldier's respective planet and the word "power" (i.e. "Jupiter Power . . .

Sailor Planet Attack!"). This attack is used first in manga volume 2, act 10, against Kunzite

. The blast completely disintegrates his body. The stone on his forehead is the only remnant

left behind.

 Sparkling Wide Pressure
This attack is presumed to have a higher power level than her first two attacks, as it is

executed after she has powered up. Sparkling Wide Pressure looks very similar to both

Supreme Thunder and Coconut Cyclone. She raises her arms above her head while lightning

collects on her antenna. She then hurls said lightning towards an enemy.

This attack mirrors her counterpart Petz's Dark Thunder. It is first used in manga volume 4,

act 15, against Beruche and her horde of monsters.

 Coconut Cyclone
It has been suggested that this is the manga version of Oak Evolution, though this is not factual

(for this to be true Oak Evolution would have to be absent from the manga, which it is not).

Leaves are used in both, but Coconut Cyclone is less powerful and is used only before she has

powered up to a super senshi. It is first used in manga volume 7, act 24, to combat a

genetically engineered monster. In combination with Sailorvenus's Wink Chain Sword,

the monster is completely destroyed.

 Jupiter Oak Evolution
Oak Evolution is Sailorjupiter's final and most powerful attack. Swarms of electrically charged

leaves rip an enemy to shreds. (Interestingly, has anyone else noticed that all of her

thunder-based attacks involve lifting her arms above her head at an angle?) Sailorjupiter

obtains this attack when she receives the Jupiter Crystal from her sailor guardian and

powers up to Super Sailorjupiter. It is first used in manga volume 13, act 37, titled

"Jupiter Dream," to kill Hawk Eye.

 Sailor Planet Power Meditation
This attack most closely resembles the anime version of Sailor Planet Attack, except with bent

knees. Sailorjupiter combines with the rest of the senshi team (except for Sailormoon,

Sailorchibimoon, and Sailorsaturn) to create a powerful beam of energy. The girls hold hands

and close their eyes, which is probably why this attack is called "meditation."

Before yelling the

final word, each senshi yells the name of her respective planet. This attack is used against

 Zirconia in act 41.

 Jupiter Oak Evolution (Evil Version)
During the final battle with Galaxia, the golden soldier manages to gain control of the senshi's

minds and turn them against Sailormoon. Sailorjupiter uses this attack while she is under the

spell and shackled by Galaxia's trademark bracelets. It is almost identical to her normal

Oak Evolution, but the electricity that surrounds her is full of dark energy.

It is used against Eternal Sailormoon in volume 18, act 50, and delivers a striking blow.

 Galactica Gale
This attack is used in conjunction with Sailors Mars, Venus, and Mercury when the senshi are

being controlled by Galaxia. It delivers a powerful blast of negative energy. It is also used in

volume 18, act 50, against Eternal Sailormoon. (It is interesting to note that these attacks

serve to illustrate just how resilient Eternal Sailormoon is. The onslaught is brutal and

constant, and she manages to withstand the combined powers of eight sailor soldiers.)

 Galactica Planet Attack
This is the last attack that Sailorjupiter wields under Galaxia's control. Sailorjupiter combines

power with the rest of the evil senshi (except for Sailorchibimoon) for this attack.

A powerful shockwave of dark energy is produced. In league with the two attacks shown

above, it is also used in volume 18, act 50, as a last effort against Eternal Sailormoon.

The blast does not kill her, but it does significant damage and completely destroys her wings.

Anime Powers and Attacks

 Supreme Thunder
Supreme Thunder is her very first and least powerful attack. Upon yelling these words, bolts of

electricity are collected on her antenna and hurled at an enemy. As in the manga, the attack

phrase is sometimes prefaced with any variation of "My Guardian, Jupiter, call down a storm!"

It is first used in episode 25, "Koisuru kairiki shoujo, Jupiter-chan," Sailorjupiter's first

appearance. She uses it to injure a youma, giving Sailormoon time to restore it to its

 human form.

 Sailor Teleport
Sailor Teleport is not an attack, but it is a power that is used in battle scenarios. As with many

of the combined attacks, Sailor Teleport involves standing in a circle and linking hands. There is

no actual phrase uttered to summon this power. The senshi stand in full moonlight and

concentrate their powers to transport. This power is first used in episode 45, "Sailor Senshi

shisu! Hisou naru saishuusen." It allows the senshi to teleport to the North Pole for their

final showdown with the Dark Kingdom.

 Supreme Thunder Dragon
This attack is used in episode 55, "Tsukikage ha Seijuurou? Moeru Mako-chan," and is specific

to the anime. The first half of the attack is identical to Supreme Thunder, but as the bolts of

lightning stream through the air they take the form of a dragon and devour the enemy. It is

performed to eliminate a daemon that has bound Sailormoon and Sailormercury. Although

powerful, this attack is only used once (which is quite a pity because it is such a cool

 sequence).

 Sparkling Wide Pressure
The awakening of this power comes about in Sailormoon R episode 65, "Koi no Ronsou!

Minako to Makoto ga tairitsu," and coincides with the awakening of Sailorvenus's new power.

Sailorjupiter takes the lightning that has collected on her antenna, forms it into a ball in her

hands, and throws it at her target. It is the antithesis to Petz's attack Dark Thunder,

as is also the case in the manga. When it is first executed it is attempted to kill Petz, but Petz's

 Dark Thunder cancels it out.

 Sailor Planet Attack
This attack is used in episode 72, "Hijou no Rubeus! Kanashimi no yonshimai." The senshi have

been sucked into an alternate dimension created by the Black Moon wand. They join hands

to produce a powerful blast of energy that destroys the wand and restores them to earth. It

closely resembles the manga's "Sailor Planet Power Meditation," except the girls are not on

their knees. It is used again without Sailormoon in episode 73, "UFO shutsugen! Sarawareta

Sailor Senshi tachi," though unsuccessfully.

 Super Supreme Thunder
This attack is a more powerful version of Sailorjupiter's Supreme Thunder and is used in

episode 147, "Unmei no Partner? Makoto no junjou." It looks the same as its sister attack, but

operates on a higher voltage. It appears only in the anime and is only used once.

 Jupiter Oak Evolution
Episode 154, "Yume Taiketsu! Minako to Makoto Zekkou Sengen," sees the dawning of

Sailorjupiter's most powerful attack. Sailorjupiter's antenna emits rays of green light and

bunches of electrically charged leaves swirl around her. She then spins quickly, which causes

the leaves to fly towards a target. When the Amazonness Quartet has bound the other senshi

(except for Sailorvenus), Sailorjupiter uses Oak Evolution to free them and in the process

injures Jun Jun.

ASTROLOGICAL INFORMATION:

Here's Information on Makoto's Astrological Sign, Saggittarius:

Fiery Sagittarius, the most optimistic sign of the zodiac, is ruled by lucky Jupiter. Direct, freedom-loving and a joy to be with, your good-humored, philosophical outlook inspires many. You love giving advice, sometimes finding that your blunt approach appears tactless and indiscreet to others. Try thinking before you speak -- if you can find the time! Sagittarians are perpetual travelers, seeking challenges that will ultimately lead them to the deeper meanings of life. Your quest for knowledge may lead to restlessness, but it will be impossible for you or anyone else to impose restrictions until you yourself can clearly see your life's path.
Your extremely intelligent and independent way of thinking makes you a natural teacher and leader as well as perpetual student. Stagnation and routine kill your spirit, and should be avoided at all cost. You dislike formality and often shock people with your casual attire at important occasions. Sagittarians prefer a fun, loose lifestyle which may appear disorganized to others, but a bohemian approach to living (including lots of great food and drink) is essential to you.
A boring job will not be tolerated. If forced to attend to details, you may find yourself making mistakes right and left -- not for lack of smarts, but because you just don't feel you should waste energy on the 'petty' things in life. You will therefore do well in a career that provides a great deal of space for your intelligent brain. Sagittarius is far more interested in intellectual satisfaction than in money, which will most likely be spent on study and travel rather than on a home, furniture or even clothes. Your idealistic lack of interest in the material side of life makes you well-suited for top-level careers in non-profits or social service occupations. Keep in mind, though, that you will probably need a very competent assistant who will pick the papers off your floor and maintain your voluminous calendar!
You have a knack for participating in complicated relationships; the Sagittarian need for limitless freedom is legendary. You don't really want to hurt anyone, but your large appetite for love requires a variety of experience. Since you tend to live in the moment, you take your lovers seriously -- but only while you're with them!
Some Sagittarians never marry, saying that they take commitment very seriously and are waiting for 'the one' -- and wind up waiting their whole lives! Other Sags practice serial matrimony; each time they make a commitment, they honestly believe that 'this time I have truly met my soul mate.' You commonly mistake sexual attraction for love, and neglect to realize that an intelligent mate who is as much a friend as a lover is more important than romance. You also need to keep in mind that a clingy, suspicious partner will imprison your boundless good nature.

ABOUT PLANET JUPITER:

Jupiter is the fifth planet from the Sun and the largest planet within the Solar System.[13] It is a gas giant with a mass slightly less than one-thousandth of the Sun but is two and a half times the mass of all the other planets in our Solar System combined. Jupiter is classified as a gas giant along with Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Together, these four planets are sometimes referred to as the Jovian or outer planets.

The planet was known by astronomers of ancient times and was associated with the mythology and religious beliefs of many cultures. The Romans named the planet after the Roman god Jupiter.[14] When viewed from Earth, Jupiter can reach an apparent magnitude of −2.94, making it on average the third-brightest object in the night sky after the Moon and Venus. (Mars can briefly match Jupiter's brightness at certain points in its orbit.)

Jupiter is primarily composed of hydrogen with a quarter of its mass being helium; it may also have a rocky core of heavier elements. Because of its rapid rotation, Jupiter's shape is that of an oblate spheroid (it possesses a slight but noticeable bulge around the equator). The outer atmosphere is visibly segregated into several bands at different latitudes, resulting in turbulence and storms along their interacting boundaries. A prominent result is the Great Red Spot, a giant storm that is known to have existed since at least the 17th century when it was first seen by telescope. Surrounding the planet is a faint planetary ring system and a powerful magnetosphere. There are also at least 63 moons, including the four large moons called the Galilean moons that were first discovered by Galileo Galilei in 1610. Ganymede, the largest of these moons, has a diameter greater than that of the planet Mercury.

Jupiter has been explored on several occasions by robotic spacecraft, most notably during the early Pioneer and Voyager flyby missions and later by the Galileo orbiter. The most recent probe to visit Jupiter was the Pluto-bound New Horizons spacecraft in late February 2007. The probe used the gravity from Jupiter to increase its speed. Future targets for exploration in the Jovian system include the possible ice-covered liquid ocean on the moon Europa.

JUPITER MYTHOLOGY:

Roman

Jupiter was one of the most important of the Roman gods, continuously evolving with Roman needs. In the early Republican era, when Rome was an agricultural city, he first appeared as an agricultural god in charge of sun and moonlight (Jupiter Lucetius), wind, rain, storms, thunder and lightning (Jupiter Elicius), sowing (Jupiter Dapalis), creative forces (Jupiter Liber) and the boundary stones of fields (Jupiter Terminus).

As Rome developed into a city of commerce and military force, Jupiter evolved into a protector of the city and state of Rome. As with his earlier agricultural form, he could be invoked through a variety of titles, each dependent on the responsibilities being requested of him :

  • As a warrior god - JUPITER STATOR, FERETRIUS and VICTOR.
  • As great god of the Empire - JUPITER OPTIMUS MAXIMUS.
  • As protector of the Empire - JUPITER CONSERVATOR ORBIS
  • As protector of the Emperor - JUPITER CONSERVATOR AUGUSTORUM

His main temple was the "Capitolim Vetus", situated on the Capitoline Hill in Rome, which he shared with Juno (his sister and consort) and Minerva, to form the Capitoline Triad.

On coins, Jupiter is traditionally shown as a bearded, older man, often naked and holding or throwing a thunderbolt. He can be either standing or seated. His sacred animal was the eagle, which he usually holds in an outstretched hand, or has standing at his feet. Most Roman images of Jupiter are styled after Greek images of Zeus, but in spite of many similarities, he is not simply a Roman version of Zeus.

Greek

Zeus (Jupiter to the Romans) overthew his Father Cronus (in Roman, Saturn). He then drew lots with his brothers Poseidon and Hades to determine who would be the supreme ruler of the gods. Jupiter won the draw and became the ruler of Olympus.

Jupiter was the rain god and lord of the sky, making his name an appropriate one for the king of the planets. His weapon is a thunderbolt which he hurls at those who displease him. He is married to Hera but, is famous for his many affairs. He is also known to punish those that lie or break oaths.

This Statue of Zeus was created by the famous Greek sculptor Pheidius during the 5th century B.C. It was considered one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world. The statue stood for over 800 years in the temple of Zeus at Olympia in Greece, until the Roman Emperor Theodosius I proclaimed Christianity the state religion, and ordered all statues and likenesses of the pagan gods torn down
